Instructions for use

How do I rent a bike?

To start using the bicycle, press the “START” button on the bicycle’s control panel and then hold up the “card key”, enter the passcode, or scan the QR code.

*You need register as a member or purchase a one-day pass in advance.

How do I return the bicycle?

Please return the bicycle to the port. After manually locking it, press the “ENTER” or “RETURN” button on the bicycle control panel.

*You must be sure to confirm that the operation panel displays “Return” or blinks blue followed by a blue light.

I forgot my activation passcode. How can I find it? (only for square type)

Please check the app or the email you received when you made your reservation.

Can I lend my rented bicycle to a third party?

This service cannot be used by anyone other than the member or the person who made the application.
In the case of corporate use, only employees of the contracted corporation can use the service.

Can I use it without making a reservation?

A reservation is required when using a passcode.
If you use a card key, you can use the bike without making a reservation.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

You can reserve a bike for 20 minutes. If the reservation is not actually used within 20 minutes, it will be automatically cancelled.

*Please understand that this is a shared service and if you decide not to use the service, please cooperate with us by canceling your reservation as soon as possible.

How do I find my reserved bike?

Please check the “bicycle number” located on the top of the rear wheel cover of each bicycle.

Where can I find the port locations?

You can check the locations of ports on the app, website, or in the pamphlets provided at each port.

Will there always be bicycles available at the port? Also, is there any chance that the port is full?

There may be times when the parking lot is empty or full. We manage our inventory and move bicycles as necessary, but please check the port status in advance using our app.

Do I have to return the bike to the same port I rented it at?

You can return and rent at any port. Please rent at any port you like and return at any port you like.

Can I return the bike at a location other than the port?

You cannot return the bike anywhere other than the port. Please return the bike to the nearest port.

Can I park my bicycle somewhere other than the port?

If you are in an area where bicycle parking is permitted, you can park your bicycle temporarily. Please park your bike in a locked public bicycle parking area. Please be sure to return it to the port when you are finished using it.

*Please note that charges will still be incurred even if the bicycle is temporarily parked.
*If you park your bicycle in a no-parking area and it is removed, you will be responsible for all costs incurred from removal, storage, and return.

Can I check the bicycle inventory status at each port?

You can check it on the app.

When returning the bicycle at the port, all the bicycle parking racks are full?

You can still return the bike even if the port is full. If the parking lot is full, please park your bicycle between other bicycles.
If some of the ports are full and you are unable to return the bike, ( P! symbol is displayed on the app’s MAP), please return it to a different port.

I parked my bicycle at the port but I can’t return it?

If “Err” is displayed when you press the “ENTER” button on the operation panel, please wait about 5 seconds and try again.
If you still cannot return it, please check the following:

1) Is your bicycle parked in the designated area?
2) Did you lock it?
3) If the problem persists, please contact the Machi-Nori Office.

Do you know the current usage time?

Press “START” on the operation panel to display the elapsed usage time.

How do I use the electric assist function?

After renting (unlocking) the bicycle, press the power button on the left side of the handlebar, and wait about 2 seconds.
If the battery level/assist mode indicator is lit, the assist function is enabled.

The strength of the assistance can be adjusted using the “MODE” button.
“MODE”: Switches each time you press it (Eco ⇒ Auto ⇒ Power)

*Operation methods may differ depending on the type of car you are using.

Can I check the remaining battery level of the bicycle?

You can check it at the power panel attached to the handlebars.

What is the range of an electric assist bicycle?

The distance traveled will vary depending on the assist mode, riding conditions, the user’s build, the temperature and weather on the day, etc.
This is a reference value under fully charged conditions.

Power mode = 48km / Auto mode = 67km / Eco mode = 94km

What happens if the battery runs out midway?

You can continue to ride it as a normal bicycle without the assist function.
However, please return it to the nearest port before the battery runs out.
Before you start using the bicycle, be sure to check the remaining battery power on the power panel.

If the battery runs out during use, can you replace the bicycle (or the battery)?

We do not provide replacement services. Please return the bike to the nearest port and try again with a different bike.

What is Osaifu-Keitai?

Osaifu-Keitai generally refers to a mobile phone with the FeliCa mark.
If you charge money onto your smartphone, you can use it to pay for things like shopping.
Machi-Nori uses the IC chip embedded in your Osaifu-Keitai to identify you.
Even if you charge your card, the Machi-Nori fee will be deducted from your registered credit card.

*If your IC card is locked, it cannot be used.
The cancellation method varies depending on the mobile phone company and model. Please check the cancellation instructions page provided by your mobile phone company.

*Corporate services and 1-day passes cannot be used with Osaifu-Keitai.
